The Rogue One movie is a prequel to the original Star Wars movie that started the entire franchise. Rogue One introduces the audience to new characters and explains how the plans for the original Death Star were stolen from the Rebels. Moviegoers may not know what to expect, but they will love this movie. Once people see Rogue One, the question everyone is going to ask themselves is, “Was this better than last year’s release of The Force Awakens?”

Jyn Erso, played by the wonderful Felicity Jones, has a task to complete for the Rebellion. She must find Saw Gerrera, played by Forest Whitaker, because he has a message that was sent by Jyn’s father, Galen Erso. Galen Erso, played by Mads Mikkelsen, received this message from Imperial pilot Bodhi Rook, played by Riz Ahmed. Jyn goes to find Saw Gerrera with Cassian Andor, played well by Diego Luna, and K-2SO, played by Alan Tudyk, who is a reprogramed Imperial droid with a sarcastic sense of humor. While the three are trying to find the message, the Imperial forces are building the Death Star, which is a battle station that can destroy an entire planet. Orson Krennic, played by Ben Mendelsohn, is the director of the Imperial Forces and has forced Galen Erso to help him build the Death Star. Krenic will stop at nothing in order to keep this secret from the Rebellion. Now Jyn and her team, known as Rogue One, have to steal the Death Star plans so that the Rebellion can destroy the Death Star.

There is so much to love about this movie, such as the cast performances, the action, the connection to the original story, the visuals and special effects, as well as the musical score. Also, there are some characters from the original movies that make appearances in this film. One of the biggest positives about Rogue One is that it presents an original story, rather than being a rehash of other Star Wars movies. Be prepared though, Rogue One is a much darker movie than any of the previous Star Wars movies. The only negative about Rogue One is that there is not as much character development for some of the characters in this movie. Rogue One is a fantastic Star Wars movie that fans will love and will want to see over and over again, just like I did. I highly recommend you go see this movie.
