Homecoming!

That time of year has passed once again for the students of Nanuet High School – Homecoming. It’s a night where everyone can get dressed up in their fanciest clothes and can dance a night away with their friends. Senior class president Shavonne Davis was in charge of organizing this year’s casino themed Homecoming, with playing cards decorated around the whole gym with each senior’s name on it. The tickets for the dance were $25, with the money going to the senior class as it was a fundraiser for them. The dance was from 8-12 pm, with snacks such as some bags of chips for the students and this year there was even full sized water bottles. This was probably a waste since most students only drank one sip and then went back to the dance floor forgetting which was theirs anyway.
The music was pretty good; the DJ played mostly upbeat tempo songs. The only complaint amongst most students was that half of the gym still had the lights on. They were most likely just complaining because they don’t like to see the teacher chaperones watching them. The turnout of the dance was great with a lot of students showing up and having a good time. About 508 students attended the dance on October 20 and most stayed until the very end.
With talks of a winter dance possibly happening in this school year, students are very excited because The Homecoming Dance is the only dance all students can attend besides prom for the seniors in one year. So hopefully there will be a winter dance and a chance for everyone to have another fun night of dancing again.
